I URGE PARENTS TO JOIN THE SPORTING FUN

July 2, 2007 8:43 AM

Nick Harvey says:

'With the summer holidays looming the local authorities are offering a welcome diversion for kids facing the dreaded boredom, this has to be welcome news for kids and parents alike.'

Cllr David Butt, Lead Member for Youth & Diversity, adds: 'The Summer Supersport programme is always hugely popular and I hope as many young people get involved this time as they did last year. It's important to provide positive activities for children to do during the holidays and if it introduces children to new sports that's even better.'

The North Devon District Council Summer 2007 Supersport programme includes:

Surfing at Saunton Sands

Basic cycle skills

Pony day - Bableigh Stables, Bishops Tawton

Adventure Days at Skern Lodge

Gymnastics

Dance classes

Climbing

'I would urge all parents to join the sporting fun,' says Nick, 'it's the sort of summer programme that everyone can benefit from - especially when the Government is constantly urging us to live more healthily!'

All the activities on offer are detailed in the NDDC Summer Supersport brochure, available from local schools, leisure centres and libraries, as well as from the NDDC Community and Leisure Dept. For a booking form or more information call the Supersport booking line on 01271 388200.

The full four-week programme and booking form is also on the NDDC website www.northdevon.gov.uk/recreation/sport

If you are a resident of the North Devon constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.

    • If you agree, Nick Harvey MP, the Liberal Democrats, and their elected representatives may use the information you provide to contact you about issues you may find of interest. Some of the contacts may be automated. You can opt out of these contacts at any time by contacting us.
