Commenting on the confirmation this afternoon that a review of military procedures had been launched in the wake of the controversy surrounding the decision to allow the sailors and marines held captive in Iran to sell their stories, Liberal Democrat Shadow Defence Secretary, Nick Harvey MP said:
"This belated review of procedures is essentially an admission that the whole affair has been mishandled.
"Unfortunately the result of the Ministry of Defence's decision to allow publication of the stories in this way has been a rather unedifying spectacle.
"Des Browne must now personally get a grip on the situation and make sure it never happens again."
