'While the Warm Front home improvement scheme is a good thing,' notes Nick Harvey, MP for North Devon, 'I have had complaints in recent years about contractors coming from too far a field and the levels of top up fees.
'Since 2000 Warm Font has helped over 1.8 million homes in England to improve their heating. Eaga the scheme administrator is now tendering for contractors and i would urge any local heating companies interested to apply.'
In the first instance installers should register their interest and include their company name and address in an email to installers@eaga.com. The current deadline for the prequalification submission is 12 noon on the 10 December 2008.
Nick adds, 'This is a good opportunity to enhance the reputation of the scheme through the use of trusted and established local contractors.'
Notes for Editors:
The selection criteria will follow a comprehensive procurement exercise under European Legislation. This requires contractors to demonstrate health and safety management and compliance, financial stability, customer care, environmental and waste reductions, membership of relevant industry bodies such as CORGI and evidence of appropriate levels of Public and Employers liability Insurance.
