NORTH DEVON MP CENSURES GOVERNMENT OVER COLLEGE FUNDING FAILURES

April 7, 2009 12:57 PM

New NDCNick has thrown his full support behind an Early Day Motion censuring the Government over its appalling handling of the regeneration of North Devon College and calling for adequate funding to be found.

EDM 1266 Further Education Capital Programme states, 'That this House notes the report by Sir Andrew Foster on the Capital Programme in Further Education, and in particular the finding that the Learning and Skills Council was warned in February 2008 of mounting financial pressures and that the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills was insufficiently incisive to uncover ongoing flaws in implementation of capital expenditure decisions; endorses recommendation six of the report, that HM Treasury should recognise the importance of skills development in the context of national economic recovery; and believes that investment in further education colleges now will secure jobs in the construction industry and bring long-term advantage to the economy through skills development.'

If you are a resident of the North Devon constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
