The sun shone for the 24 Commando Engineer Regiment medals parade in Braunton on 8 April. This ceremony held was in recognition of a 6 month tour in Afghanistan.
Nick Harvey MP for North Devon says, 'I was delighted to be asked to address the regiment, the VIPs, families and other well wishers from across North Devon just before the medal ceremony.
'It is vitally important that our armed forces are made aware that their efforts are recognised and that they know they are appreciated.
'We were very lucky with the weather which added to the sense of occasion and the sense of pride was almost palpable. Every one enjoyed a great day and my thanks go to the organisers.'
The medals were presented by Major General Colin Boag CBE, Major General John Rose CB and Brigadier Barry Le Grys MBE.
