NORTH DEVON FERRY A STEP CLOSER

April 17, 2009 10:50 AM

Puddleduck amphibious vehicle'I have always been very supportive of the idea of a North Devon Ferry Devon running along the Taw. This initiative was first raised in 2007 and I am very pleased to have been informed that Devon Duck Tours are now a step closer to fruition.

'The plan is to make the service a reality later this year. The intention remains to operate scheduled services using a custom built amphibious DUKW between Appledore, Instow and Crow Point.

'This is to be started using a vehicle from the former Puddleduck fleet on Jersey which used to run ferry service to Elizabeth castle for tourists. The vehicle awaits shipment, but it is hoped to have it ready by July.

'This project can only help stimulate tourism in North Devon particularly along the Taw and the adjacent Tarka trail and I wish it every success in the coming months.'

If you are a resident of the North Devon constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.

    • If you agree, Nick Harvey MP, the Liberal Democrats, and their elected representatives may use the information you provide to contact you about issues you may find of interest. Some of the contacts may be automated. You can opt out of these contacts at any time by contacting us.
