Commenting on today's judgement allowing the mother of a soldier killed in a 'Snatch' Land Rover to seek a judicial review into the Government's decision not to hold an inquiry, Liberal Democrat Shadow Defence Secretary, Nick Harvey said: "It is shameful that time and again, this Government must be dragged to the courts because it refuses to provide the answers on equipment failures that our soldiers' families deserve.
"It seems clear that reliance on Snatch Land Rovers due to a catastrophic lack of helicopters and armoured vehicles saw lives lost in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"Ministers must be completely honest about how this was allowed to happen. And they must redouble their efforts on equipment, especially transport helicopters, to ensure fewer lives are lost in future."
