SAD LOSS CLOSE TO HOME - GUARDSMAN KING

July 30, 2009 10:16 AM

Guardsman Christopher KingIt was deep regret I heard the news that 20 year old Guardsman Christopher King from West Buckland (1st Battalion Coldstream Guards) was killed in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on 22 July 2009. My thoughts and condolences go out to Christopher's family and friends at this traumatic time.

I understand that books of condolence have been opened at St Peter's Church, West Buckland and at Swimbridge church.

My greatest hope is that the sacrifice of Guardsman King and his colleagues in Helmand will create a lasting legacy in Afghanistan.

Personal tributes by Guardsman King's officers and comrades can be viewed at:

If you are a resident of the North Devon constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
