Nick Harvey says, 'With experts predicting that 21 per cent of children aged two-ten could be obsess by 2015 means the Government needs to take drastic action.
"In the West Country and North Devon particularly we are blessed with numerous local producers, however as the Pre-school Learning Alliance continues to now warn we cannot be complacent on this issue.
"Crucially children under five are almost entirely dependent on others for their food choices and it is easy to set bad long term eating habits
"The pre-school Learning Alliance have highlighted that recent research paints a worrying picture regarding the variable standards in cost and quality of meals in early years."
Research suggests that the levels of childhood obesity in reception and Year 6 pupils are higher in North Devon (11.9%) than the rest of Devon (10.6%) but lower than the national average.
