"The recently passed Parliamentary Standards Act 2009," explains Nick Harvey "establishes the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA). Once in place this will be responsible for MPs salaries, setting and payment of MPs allowances and administration of their financial affairs.
"Andrew McDonald, former Chief Executive of Government Skills, the Sector Skills Council for Central Government and the Armed Forces, has now been appointed interim Chief Executive of the IPSA.
"It is proposed to recruit a chief executive and a Commissioner for Parliamentary Investigations later in the year. First to be in place by November will be the Chairman to help with the appointment of committee."
With the creation of the IPSA the old in-house Members Estimates Committee will be dissolved.
