Small businesses in rural Devon are being handed a financial lifeline during the recession thanks a new funding programme. The Scheme was launched by North Devon MP, Nick Harvey earlier this week at South Molton's Amory Centre.
Nick says, "We have come to the end of the most horrid 12 months that anyone can remember and, although there are signs of things getting better, rural areas have felt it the most.
"Many people have approached me to tell me that banks are still reluctant to lend so there could not be a better time for this new grant.
"Congratulations to all those involved in making this happen and let's hope it can help lead this part of the world out of the recession and on to better times."
The grants which will cover up to 50 per cent of eligible new project costs, will be open to businesses who have less than 10 full time employees, have been trading at least 12 months and whose annual turnover is less than £1.7m.
