FINALLY VICTORY FOR LOCAL STICKLEPATH RESIDENTS

September 25, 2009 12:20 PM

Wrey Arms Sticklepath"It is pleasing," says Nick, "that people power has finally prevailed over the local authorities to tackle student parking and traffic problems in the Sticklepath area. Following the decision not relocate North Devon College, Devon County Council (DCC) was left with little choice but to act.

"In the face of increasingly, and quite rightly, frustrated residents I myself have spent the past year and a half lobbying North Devon College (now Petroc) and DCC's Highways Department to do something about the problem.

"Finally following a recent multi-agency meeting the local authorities are to blitz Elizabeth Drive, Old Torrington Road and Shorelands Road throughout November in an effort to engender a more responsible attitude."

At the beginning of July following Nick's latest round of lobbying, Edward Chorlton, Deputy Chief Executive of DCC, had said:

"We will continue to work with others where there is a prospect of resolving some of the parking and traffic issues, but must look forward to the relocation of the college as the only real solution to the resident and college conflict."

These of course proved hollow words.

If you are a resident of the North Devon constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
