CHANNEL 4 DEFENDS ITS' POSITION

September 30, 2009 10:51 AM

Channel 4In an initial response to complaints by the MP for North Devon regarding Channel 4's 'Secret Millionaire,' a spokesman for RDF, the programmes maker, has defended the portrayal of Barnstaple.

In a statement issued to the Western Morning News RDF said:

"To give viewers a better understanding of the kinds of tough social issues local communities all over the country face, the series pulls no punches in showing the reality of what life can be like in whatever area the programme is filmed."

"Judging by the recent irate feedback I have received," says Nick Harvey, "this will not placate many disgruntled constituents and I await the official response from Channel 4's Chief Executive with great interest."

If you are a resident of the North Devon constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
