Following Sir Thomas Legg's Review of MPs' allowances, Nick Harvey MP for North Devon notes, "I am pleased to say that I have not been asked to pay anything back.
"They have asked for a couple of mortgage statements which don't seem to be held on my file, so I am sending in duplicates. Most MPs seem to have received similar requests for paperwork.
"In terms of process Sir Thomas Legg was set a big task and his team has set about it thoroughly. Only when they have completed their work and reported publicly with their findings can anyone judge whether the goal posts have moved retrospectively as some assert.
"But there will be little public sympathy for MPs who refuse to pay back what Legg says."
Nick is the spokesman for the House of Commons Commission, which helps to supervise the administration of the house, and he played a key role last year in presenting a report to parliament proposing radical changes to reduce both the scale and scope of MPs' expenses.
