Nick Harvey shows his support for the 'Simply Ask' campaign
As part of the RSPCA's Farm Animal Week, 19th - 25th October, Nick Harvey has shown his support for the 'Simply Ask' campaign.
Research by the British Egg Industry Council has shown that 80 per cent of eggs used in restaurants, pubs and cafes still come from cruelly-farmed battery hens, a trend the campaign wants to end by encouraging customers to ask about where their food is sourced.
Commenting on the campaign Nick said: "I was extremely pleased to back the RSPCA's Farm Animal Week 2009 and their 'Simply Ask' campaign. The campaign aims to encourage people to be more assertive when eating out and ask about their food's provenance.
"The more that people ask whether their food is made from higher welfare products, the more chefs will start to use them - making a real difference to the lives of millions of hens."
"I hope that people will 'Simply Ask' next time they are eating out. Holding restaurants to account about where they source their food is a huge step towards bringing cruel and unfairly farmed produce to an end."
