I am therefore very pleased to have been notified by the Heritage Lottery Fund that Braunton Museum has been awarded a Your Heritage grant to research this very subject."

"The grant will fund researching and collecting firsthand accounts about the US Army's presence in North Devon in the run up to D-Day. I am advised this will include learning activities for local students and museum volunteers, recording oral histories, creating a DVD and researching the lives of real soldiers.

"All in all a very worthwhile undertaking and I wish the project every success."
