ANTI-ARMED FORCES GROUP BANNED

January 12, 2010 4:20 PM

Following the understandable public outcry the militant Islam4UK abandoned its proposed march in Wootton Bassett (near RAF Lyneham where service casualties are flown home) on 10 January. However, today the Home Secretary announced a ban on the organization and all its pseudonyms.

The law to ban the group was made in a Parliamentary order laid in the House of Commons today.

Nick Harvey says: "In my role as Liberal Democrat Shadow Defence spokesmen I was more than happy to support such a move - the group has proved incapable of conducting itself within the boundaries of the law."

From 14 January the group will be banned under the names Call to Submission, Islam4UK, Islamic Path, and London School of Sharia. The order will make it a criminal offence to be a member, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

The ban is an extension of an existing order made under the Terrorism Act 2000 which prohibits the group under the name Al Ghurabaa and The Saved Sect

If you are a resident of the North Devon constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
