Today Nick met local Whizz-Kidz ambassador, Fin Lloyd, saying "I was very pleased to see him and to hear what a difference his new wheelchair has made to his life, and for him to highlight the needs of other disabled children and young people in our area."
Whizz-Kidz is a national charity and leading provider of mobility equipment, including powered and lightweight wheelchairs; skills training; advice and support for disabled children, young people and their families. It is focused on supporting families who are unable to access the mobility equipment and support they need through the NHS.
The majority of its beneficiaries are from low income families with a joint income of less than £23,000. As well as providing mobility equipment, Whizz-Kidz we are committed to providing its ambassadors with opportunities to get involved in decision making in the their area and have a say on issues that are important to them.
Nick adds "Nine year old Fin and lives in Barnstaple and he explained how he received a powered wheelchair from Whizz-Kidz last December, which he is extremely happy with. Instead of having to rely on others to push him in his old and heavy manual chair, Fin can now be independent and take part in all the activities he enjoys in school and elsewhere. I am delighted by his initiative in volunteering as a Whizz-Kidz ambassador."
