Stopping for chat"Over the past few weeks I have received an outstanding reception on the door step," says Nick Harvey. "It has been good to see so many new and familiar friendly faces along the way.

"Canvassing is an exhausting but rewarding part of any general election and whilst listening to people's very real concerns for the country, I have been heartened by the kind words of encouragement for myself and Nick Clegg.

"After his performance people recognise that the Lib Dems are a first amongst equals and offer a viable alternate route to reform.

"Wherever I have been I must thanks those who have stopped and taken the time to chat or supply fortifying cups of tea.

"I have listened and learned a lot and will continue to listen - it is after all my passion.

"As the election looms over the next few days I will be making a final push to see as many of you as possible.

"All I can say is a big thank you for your continuing confidence in me; I am as always deeply touched."
